Top Outfit Choices for Your Beach Breastfeeding Photoshoot
Planning your beach breastfeeding photoshoot and unsure what to wear? Here are some of the top outfit choices that have stood out over the years:
Flower Crown: Adds a whimsical, natural touch.
Whether you, your child or both of you wear a flower crown, it has absolutely been the #1 most darling addition to Motherhood Beach Breastfeeding Sessions
2. Maxi Dress: Easy to breastfeed in and offers a flowing, elegant look.
Whether a strapless maxi dress, a cream/white/beige/nude maxi, whether lace or solid color, maxi dresses have been a mother’s go to favorites for its easiness to just throw on one item of clothing and be good to go, but also with how easy it is to pull down and nurse in.
3. Kimono Over Swimsuit: Stylish and practical for quick transitions.
Kimonos are super easy to throw on over dress, over shorts and a tank and my fav: over a swim suit. Whether solid color, lace, a fun pattern or a mix of fabrics like woven & chiffon, kimonos, whether long, woven, neutral-tone ponchos (for you or even for your child), short sleeve, or even long-tunic sleeveless vests are amazing for beach sessions. Add some flair with a big round beach hat or chunky bracelets
The Color & Texture from kimonos can completely elevate your session
4. Long Beaded Necklaces: Keeps your child entertained while nursing and adds to the amazing textures that elevate photography
(Or even teething amber necklaces if you have them/use them)
The same can be said for chunky, oversized gaudy earrings, they sometimes help bring in the best colors and textures to your sessions! Just be careful with earrings if you never wear them and if your child might grab them.
Also note that your necklace may break if you and your child are not use to pulling on it during nursing sessions
5. Sarong Over Swim Bottom: Versatile and comfortable for a relaxed beach vibe.
Please note, some of the sarongs are being used as dresses, other sarongs as skirts
Things to Avoid:
While I usually LOVE adorable headbands and bows and clips on little girl babies/infants/toddlers, they usually do not look cohesive with nature and since Breastfeeding Sessions tends to connect to nature so well, I recommend opting for a flower crown for your child, a chunky earth tone necklace, or at the very least a head accessory that is earth tone (beige, nude, brown, army green, coral, rusted orange, etc)

Gold/Silver Chains/Necklaces
Usually, I love dainty jewelry in sessions, it’s my favorite. However, I’ve noticed that chunky, beaded jewelry that incorporates earth tones and textures from the earth work so much better than gold or silver. Whether you are wearing a dainty gold or silver necklace or bracelet, or a chunky gold/silver necklace, I recommend opting for something that looks “found in nature” style instead of silver/gold jewelry. Now if its a necklace you never remove not even if you shower, or it has deep meaning to the point that it would not be true to yourself to be photographed without it, of course leave it on.
